Welcome to Jungle Bird Homestay!

Welcome to our homestay, the best place to stay for visiting Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary - and the only place to stay within the sanctuary's boundary. You'll find the very best in Keralan hospitality and accommodation to suit all budgets, set within the beautiful wilderness of one of India's most important bird areas.

Formerly the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Thattekkad is world famous for its wildlife, habitats, and of course, its amazing variety of birds. Many of the endemic species of the Western Ghats can be found within a few kilometres of our homestay - and many of those can be seen within a short walk of your accommodation.

Whether you've just a passing interest in birds or are intent on seeing all the local specialities, you won't be disappointed..... both Sudah and (especially) Gireesh are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic bird guides, and can take you to the best-kept-secret places in the sanctuary. A morning birding with them is a morning you'll never forget.

Our government-approved Jungle Bird Homestay is located a short distance within the park gates, beside a picturesque lake within the trees. With both a/c and non a/c rooms, it's a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of rural Kerala.

Contact Gireesh or Sudah on 0485 2588143 (landline) or 09847 034520 / 09947 506188 (mobiles) - prefix with 0091 if calling from outside India. We speak good English and calling is better than emailing!

We look forward to hearing from you and making your stay an unforgettable one!
